Backup card for holiday in Thailand.. tomorrow- best option?
Discussion
Its never simple is it! Off to Thailand tomorrow, got some cash, and the rest in a First Direct account. As a back up I thought I would put £500 into my Halifax account, which I dont use anymore, just in case anything happened to First Direct card.
So today, went to withdraw £10 and check funds had cleared, and cash point swallowed my card. On reflection I perhaps should have expected it. The account hasnt been accessed for months, then all of a sudden £500 appears and someone goes to a cash point the next day. Sounds dodgy, so card was blocked.
Trouble is I need a back up way of getting cash when I am out there, and I wont be getting a Halifax card in time!
Just wondering what you guys and gals think is the besat idea.
Im thinking either Travelex or Cash Plus prepaid cards.
Anyone had any experience with either and/or any other options?
Thanks in advance

You might be struggling a bit with prepaid cards as many require you to confirm ID then they send it to you rather than being able to pick it up immediately. I'd check out high street travel agents as most of them offer some sort of prepaid card so someone must have one you can pick up same day
