spring in languedoc?
Discussion
I was reading the carcassonne thread the other day with great inerest, having just booked a return passage on the bilbao ferry, to visit pals in montpellier. I need to sort out my routes to and from the port to languedoc.
We will be travelling in the first week in april and so I wondered what the climate might be like?
We are planning to take the morgan and so probably will avoid the autoroutes as far as possible and if these is a chance of snow in the mountians we will be avoiding them too!
Any route tips or recommendations for an overnight stop enroute appreciated

Went to see a friend of mine in Languedoc back in August! Stunning part of the world. He is a Brit and thinks April-May is probably the best time to visit both for the pleasant climate, decent amount of sunshine and also because you'll get there before the crowds of French tourists on summer holiday!
Lovely I'm jealous. Collioure is a nice seaside place good restaurants on the quay. We stayed @ The Trois Mas.

Wonderful driving roads in Cathar County. Not too far into Spain visit the Salvador Dali Museum @ Figueres
fantastic place if your a fan includes the Cadillac with weeds growing out of it.
The weather is often brilliant but not always reliable in the spring so play it by ear

Did that route some years ago: crossed to Bilbao, up the coast into France, then along followed the mountains down to the Med (and onward to Monaco and Italy, but you're not interested in that...)
our first night stop (after a couple of detours for sight seeing) was here:
