Who is getting early snow???
Discussion
As some of you may know I am a major fan of Whistler Blackcomb ski resort in Canada, so much so I spent the kid’s inheritance on a holiday home there. Therefore I delighted today to see that the early season snow fall is looking pretty good as we will be off on the 22nd Dec. Here are a few pics.
How are the other resorts doing in Europe, and can we expect a good year snow wise?

Keeping my fingers crossed as off to the 3V's in 32days time.
Will commence nightly snowdances shortly.
Safe to say there doesn't seem to be any repeat of the disasterous season that we had a few years back.
All for a bit of global warming if it keeps our summers hot and the Alps snowy. (tounge firmly in cheek)

The recent snow across the Alps will provide a good base at altitude but its the next three weeks from now that are crucial as the temperature really drops.
Whistler looks amazing after the recent snow storms and more blizzards are predicted for next week. The low temperatures will allow them to fire up the snow canons early so I reckon it could be open by the weekend.

Northern French Alps (Grand Massif, Portes du soleil, Chamonix, Megeve etc etc etc) has the snow line at about 750/800m but it's not really much to write home about until you get to 1500+...
That said the zero isobar is due to lift to 2600 over the next few days so will reduce current levels.
However, you'd expect that.... early November is too early to expect it to be the start of the season snow for most of the resorts... we don't really expect it until late November/early December.....
The word from the locals based on age old forecasting methods which have been passed by the word of mouth from one generation to the next and are highly secretive say that this year will be a great season for snow..... apartently it's all to do with the Hawthorn!!
