Hi all,

Four of us are off to Avoriaz end of Jan for a few days skiing, flying into Geneva, does anyone have a recommendation for who to use to ferry us to & from resort. We are due to land approx 8.30pm on a Wednesday night & will be back to Geneva for a Sunday evening flight home.

Thanks.

There is a train station about 20 meters away from the baggage collection point...

Can you get to the resort by train+ bus combo?

I have done this for the last 2 years... Train from Geneve to Aigle, then a bus up the valley to the resort smile Or get a taxi from the train station...

If you look on the interweb somewhere you can find the timetables... it even tells you what platform, months in advance... and they will be on time!!!

Bus will be the cheapest http://www.altibus.com/

otherwise you could hire a car? (if you do make sure you hire from the swiss side as you get winter tyres, chains a vignette and an easier to find drop off!)

Avoriaz is prob only 50 miles away from the airport, a taxi will still be expensive (£150 quid at a guess) but not as bad as if you were going to the 3 valleys etc.

There is probably also a train to Sallanches or somewhere near by and a local bus up to resort

Depends on cost/hassle ratio really!

I've done it a few times and hiring a car always works out cheaper and it comes in useful having wheels during the week at some stage.

Also the road from Morzine to Avoriaz is great fun.

Failing that coach is 40 to 60 Euros per person

Thanks for quick responses, I wasn't going to bother with car hire as other than to the airport & back it wouldn't get used. We're only there for 4 days & Avoriaz is car free, so by the time we've paid to park it & fuel etc I figured we must be able to bus/taxi to resort & back for less.

I'll follow up on suggestions at home tonight, but if anyone has any more, keep 'em coming thumbup

Is there a bus from Aigle to Avoriaz? Given there there isn't even a road from Avoriaz to Switzerland, this seems unlikely!

You can get to PDS from Aigle but you'd need to use the lifts to get to Avoriaz.

Try these guys

I haven't used them personally but I've seen their vans around Morzine many times.
