Hi people!

I take the other half away every year for a night or two a week or two before Christmas. My mum and dad have the daughter and we relish a sumptuous break alone wink

We hardly go out during the year, so throw caution to the window re cost once a year. We have done quite a few Cotswold based hotels which were nice (Cotswold House Hotel in the main).

Last year we went to the Priory hotel in Bath http://www.thebathpriory.co.uk/ and enjoyed it very much overall. I'm inclined to rebook this year, unless anyone can offer a good alternative location ? smile

That's basis of your challenge smile

Bath (walkable into town pls). Genuinely impressive hotel. Option for great food if eating in.

Thank you all.

Nick

Royal Crescent Hotel (www.royalcrescent.co.uk) ought to do the trick.

MacDonald Spa hotel is very nice. My infintely better half booked us in there for our wedding anniversary last year, and it was lovely, well within walking distance of central Bath - and had the best spa of any hotel I've stayed in within the confines of the UK....

Have stayed at the Harington's Hotel.

http://www.haringtonshotel.co.uk/

Good food and service and some very unusual rooms - our 'room' was split over 3 floors! Also very central. Bed wasn't huge though.

Nick , if someone advised you to book into the Priory , I don't think that's what they had in mind.

How's it going BTW

Barsteward! lol. Nice one...I was asking for that...all is good here.

Verrry busy time of year for me as it often is. A new puppy at 9 weeks now, and life goes on as it does.

Hope you're well.

Thank you for the all suggestions so far...am surfing them as I go.

Am I the only person who thought the Royal Crescent was utter st? Overpriced, tiny room, TERRIBLE room service (ordered food - 90 minutes, half a dozen phone calls and no food later we gave up and went out) and the most uncomfortable bed I've ever tried to sleep in.

Oh dear...how (bad) news travels eh? I like the idea of the boutique hotel suggested. Might give them a call.

Thanks so far smile

The Royal Crescent was good when we went several years ago, but they seem to have doubled their prices. Hard to see them being worthwhile now.

I'd try Haringtons; you could hardly get more central. Haven't tried the one on Queen's square just around the corner...

Yes, I'll do that too. Priory had some mixed reviews before we went last year, but decided to go anyway and it was all good in all respects.

I don't want a butler and like to be leaft alone for the best part wink

I have stayed in the Brailbrook lodge hotel, is a nice friendly place. Is about a 40min walk into the town but there is a bus stop close by. I would recommed it there. http://www.bailbrooklodge.co.uk/

Colleauges Used to use this place with work, mum just lived up the road.

Very good - and extremely central http://www.bathwindsorhotel.com/

We usually used to eat out - plenty of places to do that in the centre of Bath, but breakfasts were very good..
