Hi,

We have a couple of ski trips booked, one to Canada and one to Switzerland. Rather than trawl round all the comparison websites does anyone have a favourite winter sports insurance provider? It needs to ideally cover all the usual stuff, and preferably helicopter off the mountain (not off piste wizards but just in case i would prefer to have it). Who provides the best cover for the best deal?

Thanks in advance.

These guys are good - http://www.snowcard.co.uk/pages/ski-insurance.asp
  • Check if it covers Canada in the detail
Dog tag is very comprehensive but has a price tag to match.

If you are a member of the BMC their in-house policy is excellent.

Check out your bank premium accounts. Me & the Mrs have a joint "Gold" account with Nat West. £13 a month, and we get travel insurance that includes x-days skiing/sports holidays. Also got the mobile phones insured there in the same cost. Load of other stuff too if you bother to have a look.

Same from First Direct. Also includes breakdown cover and free foreign exchange including foreign ATM transactions/withdrawals. (Think its £12 a month which is about what you'd pay just for the travel insurance)

Good value for a family, maybe not so much for 2
