I quite like Swanage in Dorset...Fairly quaint, not too large, lovely scenery, nice cottages in Purbeck stone, The Swanage steam railway, decent weather usually, no chavs, on the Dorset coastal path with old Harry nearby, traditional seaside shops and best of all a good old fashioned Punch and Judy man.....punch

Salcombe in Devon. Has been slightly spoilt since I first went there as a youngster, now full of boutiquey shops, but still a beautiful place for a quiet weekend.

My Nan used to live in Swanage near the bowling green. I used to love visiting in the summer, great beach, great fishing off the pier, Punch & Judy on the beach, and the penny arcade - them were the days, not been for over 20 years, perhaps I should put that right!???

Nowadays living in N Wales we tend to stick to places clsoe by, so for me, Llandudno, Benllech, & Barmouth. Southport is reasonably civilised too!

Minehead. It's a bit of a dump these days, but have very happy memories from my boyhood summers, when, no matter what else was planned for the family, we would always have a week on a farm just a few miles inland on the edge of Exmoor.

It's still got my favourite steam railway! thumbup (Is one allowed to have a favourite steam railway?) getmecoat

scarborough.

i like the fact its naff, its what a seaside is all about imo - faded glamour from a bygone age. a stoll along the prom, fish n chips, ice cream and tea & scones. a few shops selling tat and the 2- arcades.

for more quaint, i prefer robin hoods bay. sod cornwall.

St Ives or Sennen
Great minds think alike.

Used to go to Sennen every year as a child.
I'd also add Porthkidney sands.

Aldeburgh.

Chav-free, Blue Flag beach, arguably the best fish and chips in the UK, Snape Maltings, The Scallop...

Beat me to it. A very, very pleasant place to spend time.

Although we do to tend to stay a mile or so up the road in Thorpeness. So to your list above, I'd add The Dolphin...

Beat me to it, lovely town. Must give a mention to the Mill as well, been week-ending there for years.

Brighton.

Why? I grew up there, moved away, lived and worked in a few towns and cities across the country and came back because I like it so much. It's not so big that it's difficult to traverse, not too small and there's always something interesting happening. It's cosmopolitan, diverse, has plenty of decent amenities and a personality of it's own. It's a great place to earn a living in my line of business as well.

Too many to pick one so try

Brighton
Padstow
Newquay
Aldeburgh
Robin Hoods Bay
Ramsgate

All best seen before the holiday season except Brighton which is always busy anyway.

Whitby - atmospheric, dark and brooding and the best fish and chips in the land.
