Please settle a "discussion" for me... I think it's always been a bun fight which starts at the gate... Mrs M thinks they've made it worse and they used to allocate you seats like everyone else does when you check in.

Not as far as I remember.

What they did introduce was "priority" boarding. Which is utterly pointless as most numbskulls pay for it, negating its purpose instantly.

My mate is always allocated the same seat on an Easyjet flight.

Mind you, he is the aircraft captain.

I think they do it in groups, my parents flew with them a month ago and apparently you don't get a seat specifically. The priority thing was also mentioned.

Im flying with them in a few weeks so it would be interesting to know.

I fear Mrs M is not correct... Does have advantages, once flew with my young kids (about 7 & 10), who ended up the opposite end of the plane from me. They kept ordering drinks, claiming dad would pay, but I kept my head downsmile

Isn't sitting so far apart against CAA regulations?

Didn't seem to be a problem. If it was agains the rules, no one noticed.

I can confirm that currently;
> you can buy "speedy Boarding" as an extra and you're in the 1st bun fight
> the they let families with children under 5 slug it out
> then group A (or 1) who we think is everyone who checked in on-line (upto 60 days before)
> then everyone else....

(I think I shall go and claim my winnings from Mrs M now.... night all and thank you)

I always think it's funny when, as it seems at most foreign airports, they call people by group and then stuff them onto a bus so they end up boarding in reverse order!

...and I always think it's funny when you get folks on a "normal scheduled" flight who have only ever dealt with the unallocated bun fight before. They plonk themselves down in, and I quote, "These nice comfy seats up at the front, why is everyone else going to the back?" Clowns.

Depends on the location.
I flew to Lisbon with them last week and only four of us paid for priority boarding (six on the return).

It was as good as having an allocated seat.

I've been flying Easyjet for over 10 years fairly regularly to and from GVA (like you I presume). They have never allocated seats in that time.

yes

When we flew back from Tallinn 2 years ago we had priority boarding - we were the first the local gate crew had ever seen with these tickets. They didn't know what to do with us. So I said, you board us 10 minutes earlier, we pick our seats and get a free alcoholic drink. We only managed to get on early frown Worth a try though.

I get a lot of satisfaction pushing past groups A&B to 'speedy board'
I just think it's funny how people all queue up before their time thinking they will get on first, They are the numbskulls!

Easyjet have never had allocated seats

I dont understand people who pay for speedy boarding, its like a numpty tax, the plane doesn't get off the ground any quicker....

The extra legroom in the emergency exits is probably worth paying for...

I love watching us British people stress, fight and worry about queueing when getting on easyjet. Then get all upset when an Italian grandma just pushes right in at the front when the doors open. But not upset enough to actually confront the person, just enough to send evils their way and a hushed gossip back down the line. Love the smug looks the "priority boarders" have on their faces, they must feel so superior.

Me - I just sit back and observe them. I get up and board when the queues gone down. Usually the worst that usually happens is me and my GF are split across an aisle, we can deal with that for the 2 hour flight time.

If I wanted comfortable and good service, I'd pay extra for scheduled. Can't believe people pay bottom dollar for easyjet, then add on priority boarding, extra baggage, a tenner for a bit of crap food and more for a tiny drink. May as well have spent the money flying scheduled.

Easyjet is a scheduled airline.

Go who easyjet bought out used to do allocated seating I believe. I suppose there may have been a short period of transition before the Easyjet system made it over to them.
