Hi,

Looking to book a ski holiday for about 10 people from 31st Jan to around 6th Feb, has to be in Val Thorens area, any know of any cheap ski travel websites? Looked on Google but I'm inundated with so many sites I really don't know what to choose. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

HH

If anywhere the 3 vallees will do try 'Silver Ski' . They do good catered chalets and often have late booking discounts. Chalets in Meribel, Courchevel, LaTania. Been with them loads and always been good.

Sorry, it has to be Val Thorens as we're "shadowing" the uni ski trip.

Find out who is doing the uni one and contact them direct saying exactly that, they wont turn away some more business!

7 of us have just booked a self-catering chalet at Val Thorens directly through http://www.chaletsdusoleil.com/

Two of the group will drive over with all the luggage which will mean we will also have a "transfer" from the airport. Those of us flying will contribute to the driving costs.

Cost per person including accommodation, cleaning, luggage transport, airport transfers and a three valley ski pass is about £540 per person.

Those of us flying will be flying from Luton for around £75 per person return.

So all that's left is food & drink for the week cool

Why France is massively down on bookings this year.

Brits have had enough of getting ripped off.

(Keeping quiet about Austria, if everyone knew how cheap it was, and how much prettier than France it is, everyone would go there....)

Have to agree with that. I have been to France every year for the last 5. Won't be going again this year due to be totally ripped off last year!

£8.50 for a beer, £11 burger and fries from a fast food takeaway, £180 4 day lift pass and £1.10 for a packet of crisps!!!

I really hope they do have a downturn this year and start charging realistic prices

:cough:

(Austria - Huge plate of steaming meat and vegetables in a mountain restaurant, around 8-10 euros, beer in mountain restaurant around 3-4 euros, plate of chips in mountain restaurant around 3.50 euros)

Down side, accommodation is generally more expensive.

Have you thought of staying in Les Menuires? It's next door to VT and only one gondola lift away.

Prices are cheaper and there are a couple of UK chalet companies operating from there (I'd avoid Ski Amis though, who operate there).

The town is not as nice with far less bars but the skiing is fantastic, with Meribel and VT one lift away. Some amazing off-piste on La Masse as well.
