I'm going to Paris with my girlfriend in February and was wondering if anyone could recommend us some restaurants? We're staying in the Les Halles area so we're pretty central.

We're not foody-types so no need for anything spectacular, we're just looking for decent food that isn't ridiculously expensive (I know that's difficult in Paris).

Here's a few ideas from one of my colleagues from our office in Place de la Madeleine. He provided these tips for a friend of mine who was visiting Paris from New York with her other half.

Ok, the thing is that in Paris you can find amazing food at any budget beginning from 30€ for a 3 course meal.

But in my opinion you can find a good value for money at any budget even with very expensive restaurants (you might encounter some very crappy restaurant priced very high in certain areas...)

Here are a few picks around 50€ per pers (not including wine, which is always expensive in restaurants anyway) :

http://www.ledomedumarais.fr (an amazing place in the very heart of historical center of Paris)
http://www.bofingerparis.com (one of the oldest Paris brasserie, famous for its sea food and its choucroute from Alsace)
http://www.procope.com/ (the oldest cafe in Paris, where Voltaire and Diderot used to come...)
http://www.lavillacorse.com/ (a bit specific, since it is Corsican food but it is (one of) the best Corsican restaurant in Paris)
http://www.le-train-bleu.com/ (the gare de lyon "buffet de la gare" with an amazing deco from the beginning of the 20th century and a very nice menu)
http://www.lepergolese.com/ (1 star in the michelin guide, a real bargain if you the the lunch menu, at bit more expensive for dinner but still worthwhile)

L'Atelier is fantastic

George's on top of the Pompidou is an experience, and not crazy price (although far from cheap)
This place is great but pricey:

Otherwise, there's loads of lovely places around the area near Mabillon Metro:

Had a terrific meal with wine in a place on Rue Princess a few months back for less than 30 euros for two! Lovely place too, just cant remember what it was called smile But lots of nice places around that area....

I found a great restaurant in Paris called the Au General La Fayette in Rue La Fayette. They do excellent reasonably priced food and have a good selection of wines and Belgian beers. Well worth a visit. It's just a short walk way from Cadet metro station.
