What's it like this time of year?

Not that negative answers are going to influence the decision to go - I'm out there on business for 4 days at the end of January. Just wondering what I've got to look forward to. Is a day trip to Macau and Zhuhai worth doing?

It will be quite cold out there, probably like April here.

Great place, make sure you get out and about and check out the Peak, Downton and the various markets.

Weather-wise this is one the best times of the year to go - mild, dry.

The smog is absolutely abysmal, although it's even worse in the summer.

There's plenty to occupy you in four days in HK alone, although Macau is an interesting blend of old European influences alongside Chinese glitz at its most tacky.

I wouldn't bother with Zhuhai if this is your first trip to the region. Shenzhen is easier to get to and more absorbing, with a wild-west feel.
