I'm going to Dublin with a couple of mates at the end of March, just looking for any recommendations as far as bars or other 'entertainments' of an evening. Or places to avoid!

Dog racing at Shelbourne Park is a lot of fun. Very popular with the locals, even the kids are placing bets !!.

Just don't go right at the end of March, i.e. Easter, like we did a couple of years ago. It really is dry on Good Friday!

If you haven't been, go to the Guinness factory but book online and jump the queues.

I don't remember a bad bar, everything was within staggering walking distance. Do also take a ride on the Viking Amphibian tour too!

D2 in Harcourt Street is a great club with the best 'outside' smoking area known to mankind.

Agreed.

We had a casino night out there with a couple of hundred people in December after a show I was doing. I have to say that the basement club for our casino was certainly loud enough and comfortable, and the smoking area is brilliant as described. We had a barbecue out there - in December!

Guinness is good there, only downside was that apart from us lot, it seemed a bit quiet, but it was midweek. Also, grim on leaving to find the obligatory drunk covered in his own claret from a split head / nose / face being attended to by plod - but then again you get that everywhere.

The centre picture is the smoking area.

Thanks for the replies,

Yes it is the end of March, but I don't think it's Easter weekend, I doubt we would have got the flights for £0 (plus taxes and charges) if it was Easter, need to check when Easter is this year though..

Guiness brewery sounds like a good plan, well for 2 of us. beer
