Special Occasion London Hotels

A 'What hotel' thread sorry....

Taking the other half down to London for her 30th in June (mid week unfortunately). I'm looking to stay somewhere fairly central and a little different from the normal 4-5 star hotel but still a bit special. Looking to spend up to £400 may be a bit more for the right place. Any ideas anyone?

Claridges? A friend stayed there and ate in Gordon Ramsay's restaurant and didnt come back with much spare change from £700 IIRC
