Can Anybody Recommend A Hotel In Barcelona?

I'm planning a trip to Spain around March April time and will be staying in Barcelona for 2 - 3 days, can anybody recommend a hotel, preferably pretty central?

What do you want from your visit to Barcelona. (I live there so am not great on hotels) but can give you the areas/roads.

Full of life - Anything on/just off las Ramblas
Cheaper, but close - Try one on Gran via (Still very walkable to the centre)
With the locals - anything around Exaimple area... some cracking restaurants too!!
rollout of bed onto beach - Try the port area hotels... not my thing, but ok
Cheap and easy tube ride - Gran Torre Cataluyna - 4stars & breakfast on the 23rd floor

If you are coming 1st week of March, watch out for the marathon!!
Also do a search on holidays & travel for some recommendations of things to do & when.... BCN closes on a Sunday pretty much, but Sitges does not!

I liked both. But not cheap iirc
