I'm off there soon and I have a choice of three resorts. Los Cristianos, Golf Del Sur and Medano. Hass anyone got any experience they'd like to pass on, I'm not looking for anywhere particularly lively, but a few restaurants and bars would be nice.
Playa? Thanks, but no thanks. I've left enough puke in Veronica's to last a lifetime

Can only comment on Los Cristianos, nice enough little fishing resort with lots of places to eat and drink.
And a short cab ride from Veronicas should you fancy a rematch.
Ah beat me to it. What a great value for money hol this place is. And a short cab ride from Veronicas should you fancy a rematch.
Just stay away from the dark side that is Playa De Las Americas although Bobby's Bar can be quite fun
In Los Cristianos I usually stay at the cristian sur (or tenerife sur which is cheaper but smaller apts). 10 minute walk into town, big apartments , quiet and cheap.
Plenty of reasonable restaurants from chinese eat all you can buffet for Eu6 (and its actually rather good) to Tapas for 2 at about Eu20.
If you like tapas try the tapas restaurant - go past the miramar on the front , heading away from the church. Take the first on the right ETA or is it the second, cant remember !) and the tapas place is half way up the street opposite the entrance to the chinese.
Plenty of reasonable restaurants dotted around. I can also recommend the pizza slices for 2Eu from the kiosk on the seafront (turn left facing the sea and its past a couple of restaurants on the left) followed by an ice cream from the same place.
ETA if A is the aguamar (and it looks like it might be) its a long walk to the town/beach and its only average accomodation. CHeck out the price of the cristian sur/tenerife sur on asda travel its usually the same or cheaper and its a nice place to stay. or if you want to push the boat out stay at the reveron plaza hotel (not to be confused with reveron apartments). Its centre of town opposite the church and has a roof top pool that IIRC is for adults only

I have stayed at Golf Del Sur a few years ago with a web site called Tenerife Lettings.
http://www.tenerifelettings.co.uk/
3 bed penthouse apartment was very nice, all home convenience with proper full size cookers, fridge freezers whirlpool bath and aircon etc., and a good price.
Resort is VERY quiet, just a couple of restaurants, shops and bars but there is a nice little square with restaurants, entertainment and so on a 3 euro cab ride, or 10 minute walk away at San Miguel (oh yes, another one!). They also have entertainers in the square - you know, the (ahem) Drifters, four Tops etc . Not a sandy beach, quite rocky at Golf Del Sur, you'd need car to get to a sandy beach.
I personally didn't like Los Christianos. Quite low rent, grubby beach and lots of hawkers hassling all the time in restaurants.

Great comments folks Yes, we were looking at the Aguamar for Los Cristianos. Unfortunately my little Google man won't let me walk up to the hotel
We were considering the Aguamarina if we go to Golf del Sur, but it looks a little unkempt out the back.

Bigdods is spot on, having stayed at Tenerife Sur, Christian Sur and Reveron Hotel. Reveron is nice and very central to the old part of Los Christianos. There's also an area just out of the old town heading towards Playa Americas, here you'll find the Mare Nostrum hotels (Med Palace etc). Over the last few years the area has been done up dramatically with decent shops, bars etc. but still within walking distance of the Old town
Medano - very windy, is great for surfers etc - also has the nudist beach!
Gold Del Sur - has expanded a great deal since I first went. It used to be quiet and sleepy with one golf course that our apartment complex was next to and only a couple of hotels, now it has a bloody huge marina there and several golf courses!
Los Cristianos - used to be a fishing village, is growing substancially and now almost merges into Playas... The place you are looking at is towards the top of the hill (more of a mountain!) about 20 mins walk down into town. Food is a bit hit and miss... some are good, some are 'ok' ie touristy! It is good for leather (and fur!) and jewellery!!
Good places to visit
Castillo San Miguel - Medieval thing, tis a bit of fun
There is an amazing spanish resturant (that I can't remember the name of! Think it is Fortuna will check with Mum) just of the church square. With the church behind you head down the middle street towards the port, there is a jewellers on the left corner. The resturant is in the top half of the street. It is painted brown and doesn't have people outside to hassle you in! (I think it is the same one BigDods is sugggesting!!)
Siam Park - opened last year. Fantastic water playground, owned by the same people as Loro Parc (the 'zoo' on the other side of Teide.
Teide is also worth a trip up!
I'll have a scout around later and see what I can find from last July - I have a list of places to eat (and the reciepts somewhere!)

I'm just taking a walk around near the Reveron Plaza hotel at the moment, looks very nice
Google for tenerife webcams, there's one on a hire car place that faces the revron plaza, and another on the lifeguard building on the main beachJust FYI, I usually fly with Monarch in december its about £100 return including bag in the hold and extra legroom seats, probably more expensive other times of year though.
Also try El Sol (close to La Fortuna which I agree is nice). A tiny place which has been going for years and years (since '70's I think). It's run by a French bloke and they mainly sell poulet and pomme frites. A bit of a Tenerife tradition for me... Jacques, the chef, WILL say "Go on, be naughty" as he tempts you to dessert. £10 says he does.

Bugger, that's killed the thread
We're looking at staying somewhere here (A) if we stay in Los Cristianos, can anyone comment on the area?

We have booked the Castle Harbour Apartments which by the sound of it may be near to your proposed location above. We're looking at staying somewhere here (A) if we stay in Los Cristianos, can anyone comment on the area?

For a cheap place the Castle Harbour Apartments get great reviews on Trip Advisor but I'll find out for sure in July....
