Turkey for honeymoon?
Discussion
Me and the better half are getting married this year and are thinking of going to Turkey in September for our honeymoon. We originally wanted to go to Sharm-el-Sheikh but after reading a lot of mixed reviews we have decided Turkey would suit us more.
Can anyone recommend a good place to stay in Turkey? We have been looking in the Dalaman area and in particular the Montana Pine Resort which seems to have very good reviews on Tripadvisor.
Budget is up to 2.5k for a week – we are not bothered about beach front hotels and would hate to be in an all-inclusive resort with nothing to do in the evening. We would like to be within a reasonable walking distance of bars/restaurants.

the town is a bit like blackpool, but the hotel is on the hill on the outskirts, we only left the compound once in a week!

Love Turkey.
Hillside Su is worth a look Click, Antalya is a nice place.
And if you are TVR minded once you are too knackered to lay down any longer you can visit Chimaera where the legend is said to have taken place

Loved the Hotel Su and love the area, Antalya and Side are both lovely, in fact all of the southern coast is great.
We had a fantastic time there, lovely hotel, the rooms are "novel" and there is so much to do, the hotel is unusual and there are many places to eat/shop/drink nearby, the lounge bar on the beach is also very pleasant................ if you get a chance take a ride out to the revolving hotel/bar/restraunt on the nearby cliff top, I was petrified going up the road but was fantastic having lunch and watching the paragliders launch from right outside the window.

We heard the harassing issue happens a lot in Egypt but I didn’t think it was as bad in Turkey? Not too bothered as were both pretty thick skinned, I wouldn't mind being harassed by a Turkish girl anyway, but I doubt that would happen. The only thing that puts me off Mexico is the amount of Yanks that will be holidaying there (sorry!) I work with them and wouldn’t want to go on vacation with them.
I'm blonde and didn't hit too many of the branches when I fell out of the ugly tree ;-) I've worked (without my husband) in India, Morocco, Turkey and holidayed in Egypt etc. I've never had any trouble, as long as you look confident you and your new wife (congrats by the way) will be fine, avoid eye contact and they will leave you alone. If someone makes any physical contact just stop dead! slowly turn to look at them.....really freaks anyone..... honestly try it!
I've had more trouble in Isleworth than Morocco or Turkey!

Yep we had no trouble either, in fact in Antalya town a local guy took us round the areas showing us stuff the tours would miss. I was of course a bit nervous at first but actually he was a top guy. Of course our route happened to end up at his employers gold store but thre was no pressure to buy. We brought a trinket - dropped the guy a few notes and took our leave, all very amicable. They even watched over the hire car while we left it outside the shop.
Top place and top people.
Worth repeating, the walk to the top of Chimaera is well worth it if that's your thing.
