Any ideas people? I'm going on the 21st Feb-24th Feb. It's not a romantic trip, i'm going with my Auntie and Uncle for my 18th (...albeit 2 years late!).

I have got the Berlitz travel guide, but haven't managed to give it a good read quite yet. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks smile

First thing to do upon arrival is buy a map.

All piazzas have little signs over the exits to direct you to St Marks Square. Every exit on every piazza has this sign (even the alley that you entered the piazza from). So finding the famous square is easy, leaving it without a map is harder! Especially as there are only 3 bridges accross the Grand Canal.

when I was there the best thing to do was just wander round getting lost, the whole place is great!

The Guggenheim there is fantastic.

Just avoid the monstrosity (sp?) that is the Ferrari store there.

You'll love it, it's the world's biggest film set.

Visit the Doge's Palace, the Campanile, St Marks and the Guggenheim. Take a (viciously expensive but mandatory) ride in a Gondola. Take a waterbus out to Burano and eat there.

You'll find more ideas on the forum at tripadvisor.com
