Las Vegas airport transport.

Hopefully a simple question. Is it easy enough to get a cab from Las Vegas's McCarran to the strip? Don't want to assume its simple then find its not. Been told its around $15-20 to the caesars palace area.

It really dosen't get any easier!

The strip is about 5 mins away.

We came off a virgin direct flight from gatwick with 300+ passengers onboard & no trouble getting a cab.

Even better if you are a smoker as you can enjoy your first smoke for 10 hours while everyone rushes to a cab.

Seconded. Just join the queue outside for a cab - it won't take long at all, that's the queue and the journey.

Yep get a taxi and tell the driver to go up Paradise Rd then Left on to E Flamingo Rd will be the shortest and quickest route, unless you want to drive up the strip take Paradise Rd then left on to E Tropicana Ave but will take longer. have been on a jolly all round Vegas before and the twunt tried to charge me $40 to the Bellagio i gave him $15 and told him where to go, as that's what i usually paid.

Make sure they go through the tunnel, it's the shortest route. Many will try to tell you the tunnel is off limits to cabs, but it's a con.

What tunnel there are lots most run under the casinos.

Funny that, as Vegas regulars will advise you to tell the cab driver to avoid the tunnel (he/she will know what you mean).

My thought exactly, the one near the airport takes you south the long way round!

I've always driven into Vegas in a rental, so never taken a taxi. Just going from (what I though) I heard elsewhere!

was in vegas in september...guy i was sitting next to me on plane
was a veteran...warned me that the taxi drivers would ask to take the long way round because of one reason or another but to demand to go straight down the strip...he was right...fare should be about 20-25 dollars...

I've managed to get to Vegas 9 times in 5 years and has it changed alot in that short time!

yeh it was $20 for a trip to the bellagio from the airport with no tunnel involved, just remember you have to tip absolutely everyone you meet, its madness but they are very welcoming.

The "tunnel" is more expensive as it's not a direct route (you're not in the tunnel itself for long. It bypasses LV Boulevard so then effectively loops round the other side of the strip), but time-wise can be faster. You pay by the mile. Also, the driver will probably ask you if this is your first trip to Vegas, but take you the tunnel route regardless

Making a generalisation....

West of the Strip (Excalibur, NY-NY, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Caesars, Mirage, TI), the tunnel/freeway might be best and you might be looking at $25-ish

East of the Strip (MGM, Planet Hollywood, Paris, Bally's, Flamingo, Venetian, Wynn etc), you'll probably go via Paradise and it'll be $15 to $20, but a bit stop-start

I once tipped a cabbie with "don't take the tunnel" when the fare crept up to $25 when it should have been $15 or so (I think heading to Paris, no excuse for the tunnel). He was not impressed.

Good thing about Vegas Taxis is if you feel you have been overcharged and the cabbie could have taken a faster route you have the right not to pay them and report them, but i would just pay what you feel is a reasonable fare.

Went there last May and paid $25 from the terminal to Trump Tower, driver was a Cambodian dude who was very friendly and told us that some taxi-drivers do deliberately go the "long way round" in order to bump up the fare.
