Right, the GF and I are planning our third holiday together this year and we're both really stumped for ideas so I am now turning to PH for advice!

We're in our 20's and our requirements/desires are:

Loads of day activities.
Loads of night activities, but doesn't need to be packed with clubs etc.
Local culture available to experience.
Excellent weather.
Excellent restaurants/food.
Excellent beach.

Looking to spend £3000 for the two of us. Spending money will be seperate.

Any ideas of locations and hotels etc?

Why don't you go learn to sail cats in the Med? Tunisia was great for this when I did it, albeit years ago...

ETA- Limited for night life and restaurants, I suppose.

I took the wife to Nice for a week - we throughly enjoyed staying in a nice hotel on the seafront. I think it ticks all your boxes - unless you want to build sandcastles. The beaches are pretty stony!

Cuba could cover most of those bases

I went with the wife a few years back and stayed in Gaurdalavaca for 10 nights, then Havana for 4.

Great weather, loads of culture, plenty of activities during the day such as Jeep safari, horse riding, swimming with Dolphins, plus all the usual beach kind of stuff.

Night time was really good, although not much in the way of nightclubs where we stayed. I think Varadero would have more of that kind of thing, but never been.

Havana was awesome and well worth the 4 day visit.

Bang Saen Beach, Thailand. Roughly based between Bangkok and Pattaya.

The Tide Resort

A not very well-known destination but very nice indeed.

I'm building a Beach House there at the moment which should be completed by early 2011 and available to hire. wink

How about Aruba?

Loads of day activities - plenty to do from sailing / diving / lots of beach / water based activities - some pretty good watch / lady ornament shopping if thats your thing.

Loads of night activities, but doesn't need to be packed with clubs etc. - plenty of bars in the towns - all the hotels have bars - plus casinos.

Local culture available to experience. - probably where the island falls down.

Excellent weather. - superb Caribean weather - and outside of the hurricae zone.

Excellent restaurants/food - very good food - somethign to suit every budget - hotels / bars / restaurants

Excellent beach. - superb beaches.

The only downside - the americans - lots of them.

Italian Lakes.
Lake Garda,
Good weather in the summer months, although you get thunderstorms, but look great at night.
I stayed in Peschiera Del Garda, at Bella Italia campsite, there isn't too much nightlife, although you can walk into the town centre, by going along the beach and it's only 10-15mins. It is a stony beach though.

Some nice restaurants in the town, and a lovely Pizzeria in the campsite, and some great ones in nearby Verona, only 30-40mins by car.

In Verona there is the arena, and is also a beautiful roman city.

A lot of the local towns are cultural with the roman towns and buildings.

Day activities include visiting local towns by the lake, Sirmione is a roman town stretched out onto the lake, great for car spotting!
Malcesine is an hour or so up the east side of the lake, again is a roman town, you can also catch a cable car up the mountain and see spectactular views over the area.
Gardaland! A great theme park, with nearby movieland, and a waterpark.

As I said, I stayed in Bella Italia, which is in Peschiera Del Garda.

But there are lots of places to stay nearby.

I forgot about this thread.

We've decided to go on a cheaper holiday (a last minute number) in Jul/Aug and continue to save more cash for our new house.

Gutted.
