Myself and the OH are off to Bath for the day on Saturday (I'm living in Bristol so its only a short journey). What are the main attractions or things worth doing in the space of around 8 hours? Bearing in mind we are 20 and 27. I enjoy photography so any particularly nice areas? Also any info regarding shops and other generally interesting or fun places to visit / things to see would be great! I don't know anything about the place and can't narrow down everything into the space of a days viewing smile

Thanks

The main attraction in Bath is the A4, west is best, but the other way will take you out of that god-awful place too. The A46 north tends to be a buit trafficy, but will do.

Can't think of anywhere else that hasn't been mentioned already, but be aware that the Bath Half Marathon is on Sunday, and some of the parking restrictions will start on the Saturday, so probably best take the train.

Touched a nerve have we?

If you do get to the Circus then go to the middle and you'll find a stone slab in the grass. Stand on it and yell or clap. Great echo smile

Yes I was a student there 75-79.

Two tiny town centre pubs to try the Coeur de Lion and the Volunteer Rifleman's Arms. According to BitE the former is better the latter worse than I remember all those years ago,

The Old Green Tree is also a nice pub for a proper pint.

I' guessing you've made the mistake of trying to drive into Bath... foolish sir, foolish.

If you come by train or know the back routes, then the traffic is manageable; if you take the main routes, you might struggle...
