California Family Holiday?
Discussion
Just starting to think about my summer hols. We are thinking Calfornia.
Our ideal holiday is to mix it up a bit ie a little bit of beach, some sightseeing/walking, a bit of city life and some lazing in a villa with our own pool. We have two boys (aged 8 and 10). So I guess in California we can also take in a theme park for a day to entertain the kids.
Anyone got any advice on locations and stuff to do in California? Or got a better idea re location (I really am not that keen on Florida).
thanks Gary

We did Vegas, LA, San Fran & a trip to Monterey to see Pebble Beach amongst other things. Fantastic trip & 4/5 days in each is enough to see most of the sights etc.
We flew (with United with a BMI tie in - UK) in to SF & then straight to Vegas from there flew to LA & finally back to SF where we departed from. This was a good cost effective way to fly rather than in to one & out of another.

We did L.A -> Las Vegas -> Bishop -> Yosemite -> Sacramento -> San Francisco.
It was great.
L.A there's disneyland, and Knotts Berry Farm.
Las Vegas you can take a helicopter over the grand canyon to a ranch, also indoor skydiving and karting!
Bishop was a beautiful small town, stopover.
Yosemite was absolutely B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Lots of walks, we saw some beards and a Coyote!
Sacramento was a really nice old town, lots of things to see and do.
San Francisco had lots of things - cycled the golden gate, sure the kids would enjoy that! Seals at pier39, union square shopping area. There's a tour bus with old British double deckers!
I would really recommend going, it was spectacular!

We did San Francisco, LA and San Deigo, took in the sights in San Francisco. Did the Disney, Knotts Berry Farm, Beach, Universal Studios, tour of Hollywood etc, in LA. The world famous San deigo Zoo and Sea World and more beach in San Diego. San Francisco to LA via the Big Sur Mountain Coast Road is awesome.
Fantastic place, well worth visiting. We loved Santa Barbara, class place great beaches. Be warned though California is a huge place and time taken to travel between locations is lengthy, especially with two children in tow. The more you plan to pack in the less time you will have at each, plan it carefully and it's great fun.
