Holiday / Flight Advice - West Coast USA

Looking to go away for a fortnight with the missus to the US this summer - plan to take in LA, Las Vegas and end up in Phoenix before flying home.
Downside, she is a teacher so we are limited to going in August and the flights are a killer - over £750 each at the mo (Virgin, BA, Air Nz). Should I bite the bullet and book the tickets now or are they likely to change price favourably in the next few months? Are Air Nz decent enough?
Also any advice from anyone who has done a similar trip would be very much appreciated - although have stayed in Phoenix before and plan to stay in Boulders resort this summer, both LA and Vegas are new to us!

Know the feeling my o/h is also a teacher, TBH i would book the flight's ASAP as with what is going on at BA most people will book with the other airlines.
As for Vegas like has been said 3-4 days will be fine any more and you will prob want to top yourself! if yo need any advice on what hotel's to stay at Drop me a Pm as i have stayed at 80% of the strip hotes from your std room up to penthouses, also the Venetian and Bellagio have some stonking deals going on at the moment.

Couldn't agree more, we stayed at the Trump last May and we were offered an up-grade to an Executive Suite on the 63rd Floor, totally awesome place and amazing views from up there.The Trump's rather nice...
The Venetian is also very nice, stayed there a few years ago. One of my friends swears by the Wynn, that looks top-drawer as well.
Four days is more than enough. If you get chance go and see a couple of shows they are really good, The Ventian have built a purpose-built theatre just for "Phantom of the Opera", seen it before, but this is different. Terry Fator, amazing; Jersey Boys, brilliant; and many many more to the point that your spoilt for choice.
Avoid at all costs the budget hotels, the Stratosphere and Circus Circus, the latter two are dumps and are a bit of a walk from the rest of the action on the Strip.
Thanks for all the advice guys - good job we didn't book up at the weekend, missus has now confirmed with her new school she won't go back till the 6th of September so just like that flights have dropped by £250 + each!
Funnily enough the Stratosphere was on our shortlist (mainly due to price) but your input and a quick google soon knocked that off. Wynn looks great but is one of the more expensive at £125 a night on the dates we would be there. Will book flights this evening and then decide on hotels. I'm assuming most decent hotels in Vegas have hassle free parking?
If anyone has some decent links for activities to do in Vegas it would be much appreciated

All of the top hotels are awesome, Bellagio, Venetian/Palazzo, Wynn/Encore etc etc, if you want to spend a little less then the Mandalay Bay is very nice, as is the Mirage (recently refurbed) and Caesers Palace. All of the big hotels have easy, very hassle free parking and valet parking.
