I would like to take my sons to the McLaren factory for a visit. Has anyone been and do you know how to book as I can't see anything on the website.

Cheers

Been a few times on business - it's certaibnly very interesting. I don't think they do ad-hoc factory visits (RD doesn't do ad-hoc!), so unless you know someone on the inside I think it's almost impossible to make happen. They do, however (or at least they used to), have an annual open day when the local community are/were invited in...

I'll ask some of our Woking team what the SP is on that....

It's been mentioned a few times on here, but the Morgan Factory Tour is very good, and worth the £10 it costs.

(Well, it was a tenner last year.)

Likewise, been there on business - it's certainly worth seeing!

Would it be possible to try and organise a Pistonheads visit, if not to the Mclaren factory then perhaps to another F1 factory? I'd sign up straight away! Maybe we could put it to the team that we'd each donate £15 to a charity of their choice for the privilege.

I go there regularly on business - and get asked this question a lot - as someone has said it is virtually impossible to get in unless you know someone who works there! IMO it is still the best F1 factory - especially now they have the road cars there as well. Stood in the lift with Jenson week before last - had one of those act cool or get out my phone camera - decided to act cool!

We could dress you up as an IT support engineer and smuggle you in whistle

Tours happen all the time but they are generally sponsors or high profile guests. As someone mentioned you can get in there if you know someone who works there but that is limited to 4 guests and 1 visit a year and that can be cancelled at the last minute if something important is going on.
Other than the old cars on the boulevard you are not going to see alot, automotive is off limits with all the windows being frosted now while they develop the new car and the F1 bays are often empty or have old cars being worked on.

I wonder if a more lowly team might be possible for a visit if a big team like Mclaren are out of bounds?
