Flying into Brussels in the morning. Seen a few people's opinions on the net on the best way to get to Bruges from here. The general consensus being get into Brussels (away from the airport), then catch a train to Bruges which is just over an hour.

Any PH'ers like to clarify advise on this. Any advice on booking tickets before hand or on the day, times to avoid, which station to go from etc. would be welcomed.

Thanks!

I suspect you will have to go from the airport station to one of the Brussels mainline stations. Zuid, centraal and Nord. All are on the same line and from there I suspect you will be able to get a train to brugges.

Try http://www.b-rail.be for more details. The system isn't the cleanest in the world, but it's quite good.

The station in Brugges is quite central.

Train is a "local" service rather than a EuroStar, but it'll get the job done.

...but the trains to Brugges are the slow, commuter types not the fancy high speed Euro trains we are led to believe run 24/7 throughout mainland Europe.

At the other side, its a short walk from the train station to the centre of brugges.

Oh, and dont forget to visit the car museum in Brussels. A great display of cars
