I'm flying to Amsterdam tomorrow with KLM and can check in online, all I'm taking is hand luggage (can I put an electric shaver in there by the way?)

So if I check in online and print my boarding pass, what time do I need to be at the airport?

Cheers

We don't know what time your flight is...

[I'd get there around an hour or so before the flight]

Depends on the airport...

Profile says Middlesborough - so Teesside? Newcastle?

Probably not much in the way of queueing. International flight. Maybe 90 mins beforehand?

Or turn up 10 mins beforehand and jump the barriers in security... smile

Electric shaver is fine in hand luggage.

I'd turn up an hour before, should be fine.

any-who, its all pretty efficient there - arrive about an hour before and you'll be fine.
Haha what a ridiculous name. Everyone stills calls it Teesside. Cheers for the help guys.

I assume check in online, print boarding pass, walk straight through security?

timlongs - hit the nail on the head. I way prefer travelling with no luggage, it's a lot less stressful if you check in online.

Hand luggage only is the way forward, so much quicker and less hassle. The trick is learning to pack properly, I love the zen like quality of doing it in a strange OCD way.

Closest I've ever cut it is arriving at the airport (Lisbon) 30 minures before the flight: striaght through security, keep on going to the gate (just as they were tannoying me) and into my seat.

I'd suggest arriving about 1 hour before departure is more relaxing

Just watch for fluids as you can't take more than either 50 or 100ml so buy the little travel tubes.

It'll say on your boarding card what time the gate CLOSES.

If it's the first flight of the day, it's critical the flight goes on time, when I'm going a gate if a passenger isn't there 15 minutes before the bags are coming off, 10 minutes before and you're offloaded.

If it's the first flight and there aren't many passengers (there aren't now just after Easter) you might find the plane has been parked up at a remote stand overnight, and it's a lot of ar$ing around to bring the plane back to a gate for 50 passengers. Therefore I'll use a bus to get the passengers on, in this case I'll be offloading 20 minutes before departure if you're not there.

An hour is fine, as long as you're 100% where you're dumping the car and not wanting to buy a Toblerone the size of your leg.
