Well after going against the norm of doing the old Cornwall/Devon malarky i've decided to do a week in Norfolk this year.

Now i've only spent a weekend near Sandringham and thats as far as it goes.

So, where would people recommend to stay in Norfolk, i.e. The broads, Cromer etc. and could anyone recommend any nice holiday parks/lodges etc.

Thanks chaps.

Cromer / Wells / Blakeney way, beautiful beaches and interesting marshes, plenty to see and do, go on a seal trip, crab fishing off Cromer quay side and of course a walk along Holkham's finest beach.

Having lived there for 18 years I can't honestly recommend anywhere having never stayed in a B&B / hotel (mum used to run one though..) but the county is so friendly and well looked after I can't imagine there are too many awful places. Especially around the area I suggested on the coast - it's a bit posh due to 2nd homes....

You can't really go wrong staying in any of the villages near the coastal road (A149) between (but not necessarily including!) Cromer and Hunstanton.

For fantastic cottages try:

North Norfolk is nice enough, i'd actually avoid staying in Cromer though.

If you want to venture to Suffolk http://www.heritagehideaways.com/

Holt is nice enough, anywhere around Holkham is good.

I'll have a quick think, and see what I can come up with.

Sheringham. Many a summer holiday spent there as my grandparents lived there. Nice beaches, nice little town, steam railway (to Holt I think, a nice market town). Lovely walks along the cliffs just outside the town too. Blakeney is just up the coast.

Ok another question, where would you recommend to go around this area and what to see?

Thanks again.

Not sure what you want to do? We have kids, so most things revolve around them...

Crabbing at Wells

Holkham Beach/Holkham Hall

North Norfolk Railway (Poppy Line) Sheringham to Holt, Sheringham isn't too bad, quite busy, but nice enough I suppose.

BeWILDerwood is about a 30 minute drive from Sheringham if you have children and like being outdoors.

Dinosaur Adventure Park, again 30 mins.

Pettits Animal Adventure Park, again 30 mins, for younger children.

Amazona Zoo at Cromer - Never been.

Norwich isn't far away, and is pretty nice as far as Cities go, the older part has some nice proper pubs too.

Haven't been up there for a while now, but The White horse in Blakeney
was always a favourite haunt of ours. Really good pub/restaurant/hotel.
Lots of nice places to visit - Holkham Beach has already been mentioned,
Cley-next-the-sea has the Cley Pottery, Picnic Fayre deli and a smoke house
for local crab, kippers etc. Holt is a really nice little town with some good shops & pubs and a decent fish & chip shop. Just drive along the coast road between Sheringham and Hunstanton and you'll find loads of places to stop, have a beer and generally relax. The Lifeboat at Thornham is another good pub, Adnams on tap and decent food, although there's not much else to do there. I could go on and on but I won't. No doubt someone else can fill in the other stuff. Have a good time.
