One of our German colleagues has been told that "most" flights should be ok tomorrow. So long as this volcanic ash dissappears quickly.

On of my colleagues has had his planned flight to Tokyo today cancelled, but it's re-scheduled for tomorrow. We've also got someone going to Athens tomorrow which is ok. It depends on your airline - I'd check with them.

Can't you just stick her back on a boat?

Nope. Natural disaster/nature i beleive which means it's not the airline's fault hence you may "not" get your money back.
