Train from uk to Greece
Discussion
Can't imagine it to be easy, quick or cheap tbh although it does sound like an interesting 'adventure'.
Probably have to do something like Eurotunnel to Paris, Paris to Rome, Rome to Brindisi, ferry from Brindisi to Patras, train from Patras to Athens, then metro to Piraeus then ferry to Rhodes. Probably hard work with two kids and pretty expensive.

This is the answer. I had a customer back in my travel agent days who went from London to Turkey and back by train taking different routes in each direction. She researched most of the specifics of her trip and got the original inspiration from Seat 61. One way she went through Greece but can't remember where exactly the route took her. She was well over 70 so if she can do it then everyone else will be fine http://www.seat61.com/
