Airport Shuttle broke down- missed flight- any advice pls?
Discussion
March 30th, 8pm.
Bangkok City to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International airport.
Bus go slow & brake down meant flight check-in missed.
Retained tickets, trip details and bus number/reg.
Bus office closed at airport on arrival so no one to request written confirmation of delay...
Bought another ticket to secure seat on next available flight with same airline.
Insurance outsourced company require written 'proof' of bus brake down to validate claim.
Phoned Bangkok Bus Company when I got back => "I speaka no english" (despite their w/site being written out in pretty good english...!)
Phoned British Embassy in Bangkok => redirected to British Consular Service in UK (Bangkok Embassy closed due to protests / national holidays)
=> was advised to employ translator......not yet done.
Has anyone else needed to claim for missed flight under these circumstances?
Can anyone please advise?
Karma are the online company that set up the insurance, but claims are handled by White Horse Administraion Services limited.
Google produces a Guardian article detailing similar story and states:
" Go Travel [Insurance] outsources its claims handling and agrees that the firm expected too much from you. It says you should have gone directly to Go when the problems started, which is helpful only if you know you can appeal to the insurer over the adjuster's head. All is now sorted out."
Can i get more out of Karma Insurance?
Have people succeeded with a translator?
Is it a get a Lawyer-on-the-job task?
With the Bangkok protests going on, it could be a long wait for the Emabssy to open, so not much hope there...
Any tips very gratefully received! Thanks for your time.
