I believe tht insurers are not relying on a "force majeure" exclusion but are simply saying that policies don't cover natureal disaster.

My policy covers me for delay and cancellation caused by adverse weather conditions. My insurer says that this is not adverse weather.

I am speaking to the financial ombudsman at the moment.

If I were in that situation I would be strongly arguing that the situation is just a flight cancellation and not "adverse weather" or "act of god" (which god?)

Am I right some insurers are paying out and some are refusing? Is there a list anywhere of insurers that are paying out and those that are not?

It seems to me that flights being cancelled is exactly why one would wish to be insured and in the future I would be inclined to use an insurer with a good track record. If everyone did the same then those campanies who are taking the piss might come to regret it.

I phoned them they didn't want to know. They said I don't need to know any of your details or issues, none of our policies cover the volcano. Weather is rain and snow.

Was almost looking forward to the 'Act of god' clause.
