Does this still apply being not more than 100ml per item ?

And you have to put them in a bag?

There's a video on youtube of a scientist showing you what he can do to a plane with a fanta bottle (other containers for home made explosives are available) filled with explosive, it's pretty shocking from what I remember.

Important to remember, a 250ml bottle with only 50ml in it is not allowed.

Yet I've carried my hand cream and small tin of vaseline in my hand baggage ever since this rule and never had them found.

I've spent so many hours queueing in security gates that I've devised the most perfect way in my head to get things through. It's amazing the simplicity with which it could be done, while at the same time the whole process seeming so "water tight".

I took my contact lense solution through with me last time. Around 300ml and they asked what it was, and I said contact lense solution. Their response "OK that's fine". It could have been anything when I think about it.

They can't exactly ask you to taste it .... It's for medical reasons - and they have no real way to test it. They have to let it through.

I think we all agree that the current regs are silly and not perfectly policed but why do people still insist on flouting them? It just slows everyone else down when they do find something.

I always pack everything perfectly within regulations before even leaving the house to go on a flight. Really not worth the pain.

The leather jacket and day's worth of stubble already gets me selected for 'random' searches often enough without inviting further delays.

It is quite annoying when the person in front takes an absolute age to get through the process because they haven't read the instructions posted all over the airport properly.

i wonder if hand creams and vaseline show up just like solids on the x-ray - they are basically a waxy solid and a waxy solid suspended in water.

and when they eventually do and you hold everyone up you'll still think it's funny no doubt. I'm all in favour of doing what you like, but not if it inconveniences other people (and, yes, you're very clever to have managed 90 flights without it being a problem but it will one of these days, most likely, won't it?)
