Where would you recommend to stay?

Tried the Krasnapolsky and was very disappointed.

Depends what you want to do.

The Lennon Suite at the Hilton?

Not The Victoria.

It's horrendous.

We are only there for an evening as a result of the BA strike before going to Barca.

So plan around Dam Square and the Van Gough museum.

Amsterdam Hilton is down by the museum.

Its a fair old walk to Dam Square mind.

Having stayed in a lot of hotels in Amsterdam of varying qualities my favourite (which is probably not going to be to your tastes) is The Winston.

It's great fun and some of the art rooms are amazing.

I stayed in the Movenpik (how ever its spelt). Was realy nice and had a good view of the dam. It took about 10 min walk into dam square.

I stayed in one of the business rooms in Hotel Inntel 2 weeks ago. Was a nice place about 5-10 mins walk to Dam square.

We stayed in the Picasso suite and it was fantastic. There's only 8 rooms and you are looked after by the butler, he booked us into some really good restaurants that we would never have found.

If you like small, intimate luxury then I highly recommend this place.
