Looking for a good beach holiday at the end of June? Help!
Discussion
I've been looking at so many places i'm lost.
I basically want paradise. White beaches and hot sun with a nice hotel.
Basically the Maldives would be perfect but i've heard the weather is pretty poor in June/July.
Any other suggestions will be happily taken.
Looking to spend around £1200 each.

Furteventura has virtually guaranteed sunshine in summer and some of the best beaches in the world - but the islands accomadation is biased towards the bottom end of the market, beer and chips in the sunshine, self catering and has lacks a choice of good hotels. If you choose somewhere towards the edge of the resorts and have a car there's a good chance you'll avoid all the Chavs and morons in football strips. Furetventura also has superb, almost completely deserted roads and stunning scenery inland if you fancy a bit of a hoon.
There are a couple of H10 group 4* ones in the south of the island and one in Correlejo - which I can't remember the name of at the 'mo but was nice when we stayed there around 5 years ago. If you go for self catering then the best (by far) apartment we've found is Las Marismas in Correlejo.
Best beaches on the island are the sandy coves north of El Cotillo, Playas de Corralejo and Playas de Jandia - all are stunning.
El Cotillo.

Playas de Jandia.

Must confess I found Fuerteventura a very dull place indeed and you get the displeasure of German nudists in many of the dunes. I preferred Lanzarote which is more commercial- Puerto Del Carmen or Costa Teguise. I didn't think much of Tenerife's beaches.
Proper beaches can be found in places like Zanzibar, Kerala in Southern India and even as close to home as Mallorca. I would unerringly recommend the many beaches around Cala D'Or, Cala Pi and Colonie St Jordi - you can do a different beach every day and weather is good in June.
In the south of Spain, I would recommend Roquetas De Mar or the coast north and south of Mojacar and somehwere in the middle of the eastern coast is Peniscola which has a great beach. Further north of Javea there are great long stretches of relatively deserted beaches too.
Only Zanzibar of the above has the white sand though. Maldives is going to be very expensive.

Part of the attraction of Furteventura is the fact it's very quiet. Lanzarote is much buiser but ya pays ya money and takes ya choice. In Lanzarote I'd choose Playa Blanca over the other resorts as the micro climate is much better - the Papagayo mountains shelter the southern half of the island from the NE Trade winds. It can be pissing down in Teguise or Puerto del Carmen and bright sunshine in Playa Blanca - and the accomodation is of a higher standard too. Some of the 4* hotels in Playa Blanca are really good value.
Either way both islands are perfect for some winter sunshine, but the beaches on Furteventura are much, much better.
By coincidence we were in Peniscola last week and yes there's lovely beaches all along the Costa del Azahar, but it's very much set up for the Spanish with massive high rise, high density holiday apartments stretching for miles behind the resorts. I'd hate to think how busy the coast gets when they are all full in the high season. You'd not get anywhere near a quiet spot on the beach or a table in a restaurant. One thing the Spanish are very good at (apart from sitting millimeters off your bumper at 1.4 leptons even if there's not a slightest chance of them overtaking, or standing right in the way when you're struggling to get past with heavy suitcases) is making a lot of noise all night, so I'd guess a good night's sleep anywhere on that coast would be a nono too.
I thought about suggesting Minorca or Ibiza to the OP, again nice beaches and some good hotels too but they also get absolutely rammed in the high season. I've been on Cala Galdana and a few of the other beaches on the south side of Minorca and actually had to step over bodies to go for a swim.
Peinscola.

Lanzarote.

Ah, you need to pick your accommodation more carefully. Never had a problem with noise (OK bar one night with a Spanish flamenco sesssion...). Worst thing about Spain generally is the number of people who use the beach as a massive ashtray!
Loved Peniscola, staying at an apartment in the Nerea complex.Had two communal pools to ourselves in August and the kids pool was as warm as a bath in the sun.

Colonia de Sant Jordi, Mallorca. Perfect for kids.

There is a long stretch of very quiet beach north of Javea but the more deserted, the more you have to pee in the sea!
I'm prejudiced against the beach at Jandia in Fuerteventura as I was walking onto a beach and stepped in a weird trench seemingly full of muddy sand and spent the rest of the day with a muddy foot. It was also very windy (albeit this was in February. NIce island to drive round though.

Completely agree with Jag Steve. Fuerte is lovely and quite with excellent beaches. Stayed outside Playa de Jandia and it does have some of the nicest beaches in Europe. There were a few Germans when we went but the majority were clothed and never got in the way. I did see one naked german
The island can be quite windy but we went in the summer and there was one windy day in 10. Stayed in Fuerteventura Princess which was very nice enough with plenty of food choice.

Going to Cuba this year which looks really nice and that is within your budget. Staying in Varadero so it could be worth a look for you.

There are so many lovely places in Crete, Greece that are tucked away from what you automatically think of -
I have a number of clients that have been to both the following hotels and return year on year :
Blue Palace Crete link - http://www.bluepalace.gr and also Amirandes - http://www.amirandes.com/
I have also been to Mauritius in July and the weather was perfect - Some good deals around for July, another customer I booked last week is staying at Constance Bel Mare Plage: link - http://www.bellemareplagehotel.com/ £1218 per person Half Board inc direct flights.
Have fun choosing!!
