I’d like to drive to Paris for a few days and was thinking of leaving the car in one of the secure car parks around the city out skirts then getting the metro in to a central Hotel.

Has anybody done this, any recommendations do’s don’ts etc.

Cheers,

simon.

Me too, don't like the look/sound of city centre driving and the waiting around/parking for the train in outlying villages. Approaching from the North West.

Now to find a Hotel, was going to try the bussiness district.

It's not that bad. have driven in Paris many times and it is no worse than any big city. Find a hotel with a car park and park up though. Paris is easy to walk about, or Taxi or Metro.

La Defense (rofl) is dead at weekends, and doesn't have much going for it in terms of night life in the week. It's not a particularly good or interesting base (apart from good metro links in to the central spine of Paris).

Although the Concord La Fayette does have a good car park under it and is easy to get to without going through Paris itself. it has a cocktail bar on the top floor which is good at night for seeing the light show on the Tower.

About a 5 min taxi to the Arc d'Triomphe.

Not my preferred area. You could try Avenue de Wagram, just off the Arc. There is a large car park next to the Decathlon. There are also hotels a plenty there

itsnotarace, are you suggesting leave the car here and take the train in. I noticed a metro station just across town also.
