Myself and my brother are considering a bit of a road trip in a nice car this summer, but the question of insurance has us a bit confused.(Aged 25 and 22 most likely in a s2000).

We aim to get a policy with both of us on and be able to have both of us drive in europe. So are there any specialists that provide short term (1 or 2 months) of cover for 2 people around europe? (at a reasonable price)

Or is there a "standerd" insurance company that offers this cover? I imagine it should come up often as couples are likely to share driving in europe, so both policy holder and second driver.

Any help would be great

(I know I could phone up, but they are unlikely to give us anything in writing and so could just change their minds, so would like to know some opinions before buying etc, I like to get it all nailed down!)

Myself and a mate were in my car when we drove round Europe last summer. I added a week of European cover to my normal insurance policy for about £30 then added my mate to the policy for a week. He could only drive outside the UK, but the extra cost for a week was only £31 IIRC. I even let him drive on the Nurburgring too yikes

What company was that with Don? as that seems quite cheap (obviously dependent on the car!)

hehe Read my profile name out loud, it isn't my real name.

It was with Bell Insurance. They charge me enough for the normal policy, but the extras seemed pretty good value.

I've just sorted my LeMans insurance for me and bro.

For me to drive in Europe £0.00
For him to drive my car in Europe for 7 days £22.00

Group 16 BMW, him 32, me 34, clean licences.

I added a Norwegian lass to my insurance for a couple of weeks driving in Europe and was only charged £7 by my normal insurers (group 17 bmw) - so speak to usual insurance company and see what they offer you!

Every insurance policy will cover you and any named driver third party in Europe. So only pay extra if you want fully comp.
