Thinking of flying out to Malaga on Wednesday morning and coming back Saturday!

I've heard that it is not the nicest part of Spain (Busy) but we though we would give it a chance as we have never been out there.

My question is what is there to do and where to go around this part of Spain? We will be hiring a car so don't mind driving a bit to get to the best spots, thinking Sierra Navada moutains or a quiet part of the coast (or both)!

What do the people of PH think? and can anyone recommend any nice small hotels of guesthouses?

Thanks!

Great place to go to, the town is very interesting with its architecture and in the centre it has a lovely park, nightlife there is first class, start off with a tapas run about 7pm then carry on to dinner about 10.30pm.
If you have a car drive up to the Sierra Nevada and have a stop off in Granada which alone could keep you busy for a week, go to Antequera which is an old Spanish town.
Take a drive from Malaga to Ronda and go round the old bullring and museum there very interesting, walk over the entrance bridge and look down to where the slaves used to bring the water up from the river.
Go to the private F1 track there in Ronda.
Take a drive down to Cadiz and Tarifa which is famlous for its very windy coastline and windsurfing.

Have a walk round Puerto de Banus to see what you are not missing and see where everyone gets ripped off and watch out for the hookers.

Have fun

The private F1 track mentioned is probably Ascari. Don't bother going as you'll be turned away at the gatehouse, and you can see the sum total of bugger all from the roadside. Members only.

Ronda is lovely though and well worth the visit. As are most areas inland of the coast tbh.

There are a lot of very nice surrounding towns (sub-1 hour drive), I am sure you will enjoy it!
