The heat in Dubai will be to much for a toddler, and I can't think of anything for them to do, but then agaqin I can't imagine anyone ever wanting to go to the gulf, especially on hoilday, its OK for business if some one else pays but thats it.

There are thousands of western expats living in the gulf (and other hot parts of the world) who have toddlers.

When it's hot I expect they spend their time playing in the pool. Dubai also has some excellent water parks.

We went at Easter and it was pretty hot then, we were staying with friends and they said that Spring/Autumn was the best time to visit temperature wise as it gets very hot in the Summer. I'm not sure that taking a toddler out there in the Summer would be a good idea as you will probably have to spend most of the day indoors and will only be able to venture out in the evening.

As for Dubai itself, we loved it although this may have been because we were with our friends. You can certainly see where all the money has been spent, some of the buildings are amazing. If you do go, try and take a night time cruise on an Abra around the souq near Burj Al Arab - it looks even more spectacular at night time. Standing underneath the Burj Khalifa and looking up and up and up....

Unless you have any particular reason to go to Dubai then I would avoid for a holiday, especially with a child. Yes it has some very wow! buildings and is great for shopping, eating etc but it does not offer that much for a family holiday.

I went to Dubai in June a few years ago, the heat was very intense but it was the humidity that was unbearable. It actually fogs up sunglasses and cameras when you go outside. Its not somewhere I would take a toddler to in the summer.

Editted to add its still far too hot in the evenings - you can feel the residual heat coming up from the pavements and roads all night.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and it was more like mid 40's, heading to Oman on Friday and expecting more of the same. It is not lying by the pool type weather, it s bloody oppressive.
