We use these guys at work, and my friends had their wedding at one of their hotels - not the "best", but adequate, and cheaper than most:

Not the Lime Wood Hotel then.
To be honest, I grew up here, so am not entirely familiar with the hotels as we never stayed in them! Been to plenty of weddings, christenings, etc. though.
I know Careys Manor was always quite well thought of, as well as the Balmer Lawn Hotel (just down the road), but might be a bit expensive.
My boat lives literally outside;
http://www.themasterbuilders.co.uk
which is quite nice, but possibly a little over-budget. Not much nearby either, it's very, very quiet, on the edge of a nature reserve.
Have you tried Sawdays?

And lastly, what sort of thing are you looking for? Getting away from it all? Or somewhere near a town (don't expect nightlife!) with something going on?
I was there last weekend, will be there again this weekend (and probably next!).

Montys. You can close the thread now.
The Montague Arms, in Beaulie. Sister hotel to Careys but nuch nicer in an old fashioned way with access to the Careys Spa included if thats your thing. The food is excellent, service always superb, the rooms are lovely (get one with a 4 poster), and the afternoon tea has the best scones I've ever had in a hotel.
Oh, and its just across a stream from the Abbey/Motor Museam.

I find Montys expensive and not particularly friendly, but it is close to the motor museum.
Certainly the local yachty set don't go there, although they'll regularly be seen in the Boat Builders yachtsmans bar.
p.s. sp. Beaulieu!
