Hi

We're off to Singapore in August and have just been offered upgrades of GBP 150 each way if we go Premium Economy, and GBP 350 each way if we go Business class. Are these good value, and should I be able to haggle further on these?
I'm going with SWMBO and our 9 yr old son, neither are used to long haul flights so I'm thinking go out economy and return business.

Thanks

Are you tall?

If remotely yes! Singapore airlines, if that's who you're going with have very good seat pitch, but even so it's a long flight.

Lovely place. Make sure you avail yourself of the lovely cuisine. Orchid gardens are worth a visit too.

Shame you have your kids. My mate who lived there at the time took us to one of the Brothels in a shopping centre of all places - was surreal on our honeymoon, but a surprisingly good night out. Spotting lady boys that is.

I'm 6ft and 100kg so it could be cramped. To add we're going with Qantas on an A380.

It's a family holiday and we're only in Sing for a couple of days then off to Borneo but thanks for the suggestions

Shame you didn't do Singapore, they subsidise your stop over - we had 4 star hotel - £150 for two of us - and boy do they know how to do hotels there.

We only had two days too. Gardens, shopping, and a visit to raffles have to be on the list.

If you are flying Qantas A380, Business is completely worth it.

Look at what a business class flight costs and then compare. We normally pay in the region of £3k - £3.5k to Aussie / NZ Business when we fly, and that is only Qantas. SIA are superb though, and if it was my money, that is who I would fly with, but airmiles are all with Qantas! Frustratingly ...

We recently had the same going to San Fran. We'd booked premium economy with BA, then within a week of leaving they offered upgrades to club going out for £400. Guessing that the plane was full, we decided to take pot luck at the airport and asked for an upgrade on check-in. Bingo! Club class to San Fran at no extra cost. biggrin

If £350 won't break the bank I'd go business. Both flights are overnight I assume ? Unless you have got a daytime flight to Singapore which is a schoolboy. It's actually a really good flight if it's one that takes off at 9 or 10 pm...get on have dinner and you still have seven or eight hours for a nice kip. Coming back much the same. You could just upgrade one of you to business and you and your wife could get a few hours sleep each?

Thanks, sounds like it's good value but could be worth a gamble on a last minute upgrade at the airport. I was only thinking of doing it one way but if you don't ask you don't get.

The LHR to Sing flight leaves at midday but arrives the next morning, so overnight ish!

cheers

OMG, The Tower Of Power has closed? Where is one to shop when staying at the Hilton??

OP - if you can spare the funds, then I would definitely suggest the upgrade.
