Seasides convenient to the midlands
Discussion
I'd welcome suggestions for beaches/seasides that are convenient for daytrips from the Brum area, particularly as local govt are forcing Coventry beach to shut.
As far as I can tell only Weston and Sandy Bay just to the north are within 2 hours drive. I've never been to either, but reportedly Weston is rammed all summer and Sandy Bay is really dirty (2x average levels of sewerage waste).
Any further suggestions for seasides or for inland beaches (even if ordinary lakesides) are more than welcome, particularly if they're likely to be clean and/or quiet.

Swansea, 20 miles of golden sandy beaches all around the Gower with the added option of picking a beach for its seclusion or that of a more popular spot.
Swansea is drivable from Brum in two and a half hours dependant on what area you would be travelling from.
I drove from Solihull last Sunday to my home which is twenty minutes from Swansea and it took a hour and forty five minutes. Obviously I didn't go over 70 ;-)

Barmouth is very nice and pretty easyvto get to straight from the midlands (head across the m54)
also has the advantage of some of the worlds best driving roads and the evo triangle is also doable
Just make sure you avoid Newtown on the way to the Welsh coast. Since a new Tesco opened and a roundabout has been replaced by lights there can now be delays of an hour getting through East > West at peak times. It's crazy.also has the advantage of some of the worlds best driving roads and the evo triangle is also doable
