The wife and I are off to Las Vegas in early Oct for a few days and we are both keen to do a show, the grand canyon by air and experience as much as possible!

Therefore would it be best to book perhaps a few things in advance such as shows/ grand canyon helicopter ride? And if so any suggestions as to where/how to book? Or am I likely to get better deals when I am there?

Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks.

www.vegas.com is one of the biggest I'm aware of. Out here at the minute (check the thread I've got running with some suggestions in), it's ace smile

Most stuff you don't need to book in advance, in fact I booked absolutely nothing in advance. Unless it's a massive show or it's just opened, I'd probably just wait till you got here. I've done a couple of the bigger ones that are on at the minute and getting seats hasn't been an issue at all. You'll get more discount when you're here for a lot of stuff too.

Chopper rides you certainly don't need to worry about booking this far in advance.

What sort of show did you want to see?

Why are you set on a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon? Would you not consider hiring a car and driving?

Some of the best shows i have seen out there have been Jersey Boys (but this is now on in London), O by Cirque Du Soleil (blew me away), Lion King (again can be seen in London now), Blue Man Group, Terry Fator - very funny and talented. All the top shows we booked in advance. There is usually discount available.

No need to book the shows in advance unless they are new.

Chopper trip to the Canyon is great, if you can then go for the one that actually lands at the canyon bottom and gives you lunch and time to walk around, it's worth the little extra.
If you can be flexible, then call the chopper companies each morning and ask if they have any spare seats, I saved over $100 by doing this.

Also make sure you do the longer tour of the Hoover Dam, it's well worth it.

Show wise, 'O' at the Belaggio is incredible ... really worth a look.

Agree on the Helicopter ride being good also, we landed in the Canyon and had a champagne picnic whilst watching the sun set, was lovely.

We spent 4 days there and crammed as much as humanly possible into those four days. Other things i'd recommend.

  • Big Shot at the top of the Stratosphere, just for the view and to say you've done it. The other rides are equally okay.
  • Try and wander around as many hotels as possible, they're all very impressive inside. Caesars Palace has a great shopping mall if you fancy it. The Paris is similar. The Venetian is nice to walk around, grab a gondola ride and have some dude sing the Cornetto song wink very romantic.
  • Hoover dam tour.
Make the most of it, there's so much to see and do, so don't waste any time wondering about what to do, just do it, then get onto something else straight afterwards. You'll be knackered (we had bugger all sleep the entire time we were there) but I think it was worth it.

Go see Le Reve at the Wynn - mind-blowing show. Apparently the same design team as 'O' but Steve Wynn wanted bigger and better for his new flagship hotel. I'm not a show fan really but Le Reve was astonishing and I would happily go again, and again, and again, you get the picture! You can also spend a happy hour before the show perusing the Ferrari showroom in the hotel too......
Sounds good. Wynn was being built as we were there. Would be what i'd choose now I guess.
