Going over to Ireland in a week or so with the family. Going to be in Kilkenny for 2/3 days and Sligo for 2/3 days (choices determined by other half's genetic roots!)

If anyone has any recommendations with regard to eating out and things to see and do in or within reasonable range of these two locations I'd love to hear.

One day in Kilkenny was enough for us. Worth doing the walking tour from the tourist office
though

While your in sligo you could nip over the border to Enniskillen, visit the marble arch caves, go out on a boat trip on the fermanagh lakes or drive round them. Good golf course and restaurant near by - lough erne golf resort.

Bump - OK so been there and done it now!

For anybody who might head over to the Emerald Isle then I don't mind recommending:

1. Cafe Sol in Kilkenny (best meal I had in Ireland)
2. O'Malley's B&B in Kilkenny town centre. Basic accommodation but Paul delivers up a fine full Irish. Avoid Saturday nights though as the local maidens are trying to get laid (outside your window that is)
3. Rosses Point hostel in Sligo
4. Austie's Bar in Rosses Point

I also know why there was a limited response - the place is frighteningly expensive.
