Finally got some of the Lads arses Into gear and we're one step closer to booking a trip to the Dam!
Thinking November time so everybody's got time to save plenty of booze money.. What will It be like over there November time?
Found return flights for £50 on Easyjet and for 6 people to stay In a 20 person Dorm at the Flying pig downtown Is about £70 for four nights so will work out £120 plus spending money.
Who's been over there and were's the best places to go? How much money would you take over for the four days?

Be prepared to spend lots and lots, I think last time I was there 5-6€ a pint was not uncommon.
Have never stayed there but have only heard good things about the Flying Pig.
In terms of places to go at night there is Liedsplein (sp?) which is a square with lots of bars/nightclubs, have been to a night at the Melkweg and it was one of the best night club experiences I've ever had: not packed, friendly crowd, good music and a good venue/layout. Very expensive as previously mentioned though. If I was going again I'd probably split my evenings between here and the red light district more towards the city centre, apart from the obvious around the RLD there are more bars, coffee shops, sex shows and other random attractions.
During the day there's the Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum, Maddam Tussad, Heineken experience. Out of those I've only done Anne's house, which I found really interesting/moving. Volderpark is always good if the weather is nice. Pedlos in the canals can also be fun, bring a few pre-rolled j's and chill out for a few hours. Can't remember how much they were though.
My favourite thing todo though is just get lost in the side streets/explore. If you have time head towards the Joordan district, if you're facing central station it'll be to your left. Lovely architecture around there and calm and tranquil compared to the bustle of centrum.
If you're into shopping there's lots of cool little boutique style shops dotted around the place, along with your usual H&M, Zara, etc.
Foodwise you have the standard Maccy Ds (with mayonnaise) etc as you'd expect. My favourite place to eat is Wok to Walk, a take away noodle bar with a few shops around the city.
Febo is something that has to be experienced, if only to realise how dirty it really is. Can't miss these at night, hamburgers etc from vending machines!
I remember there being a street with lots of thai/chinese restaurants that were quite reasonably priced, don't have a clue where it is though.
Coffee shop wise I don't really remember much, but there's plenty to chose from. If anybody in your group looks young make sure they bring ID. If you're going to smoke it's etiquette to each buy a soft drink (remember them getting quite militant about it!). My favourite coffee shop is Hill Street Blues, can sit and look out onto a canal and watch the world go bye. They have table football too!
Hope this helps, I haven't been for a few years so everything may have changed.

For an evening out try the Supperclub - http://www.supperclub.com/amsterdam/
Not cheap mind but a fantastic night out.

I am in Amsterdam very regularly for work, beer is not cheap as other have said expect 6 euros a pint if you go drinking around Dam square, Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, the constant tourists mean they can keep prices high.
Personally I would not bother with Anne Frank's House, you queue for ages and then it's over faster than a trip to a scantily clad lady in a neon lit door.
Watch your wallets if you passing through centraal station and the red light area, lots of pick pockets about.
And make sure you note the difference between red neon and blue neon in the windows, depending on your preferences of course.

with 6 of you, i'd look at renting an apartment as it will be comparable to a hostel pricewise. I'd definitely recommend that you look for a hostel with a 6bed room for security reasons - look on hostelworld.com.
try the search function for amsterdam, there are loads of similar threads

I take It the girls under the Blue lights are 'chicks with dicks'?
The hostel we looked at was nearly half price for a 20 person room so I think we're just going to go for that, I'm not sure on exactly how many people are coming so will allow for a few more as I think a few others want to come.. The Dorm has personal lockers anyway!
