My wife's booked a long weekend in Hereford Featherdown farm. Apparently accommodation is half tent and half cabin (put it this way, it's not a hotel romm!). We're taking the kids (age 5, 4 & 2). Anyone done one of these weekends/holidays before? Apparently there are a few of Feather Down Farms around country. If so, is anything i need to be aware of? Cheers.

Funnily enough there was a camping program on TV last night and Featherdown Farm was featured. Looks to me about the only way you would ever get me to go camping. Mrs Fubes has instructed me to find out more grumpy

This from that article pretty much sums it up for me

“For this sort of money, we could have had something made of bricks, with a shower and a kettle and heating and a reliable water supply and nice thick walls to keep noise out and warmth in.” Going back to basics isn’t half so much fun when you’re paying a premium for it.

Okay, done the Feather Down Farm thing. I must say, it was brilliant! Anyone with young children who feel they need a break (maybe with friends) I would highly recommend this. The environment is safe and exciting for kids so you feel perfectly happy letting them go off and do their own thing. My kids are 5,4 & 2 and I barely saw them as they were off playing in the fields and feeding cows & goats etc. We had proper camp fires in the evening (let the kids stay up late to toast marshmallows)and my wife & I and our friends were able to enjoy a few glasses of wine as the kids sent themselves off to bed (which ensured we got a lay-in in the morning). The tents (if you can call them that as they were more like mini cottages) were great and the beds with feather duvets were comfortable and warm. The best thing about this place was that the Health and Safety idiots haven't got to it yet so camp fires etc were fine. There were no rules (i hate signs that say don't do this and don't do that). Great time - looking to do it again and the kids just loved it.

Completely agree, great weekend option.
