Ok.. so, pondering 7 nights in the Maldives for my birthday in September. Having never been to such a place before, I have a couple questions

1 / Are the all inclusive deals worth it? I;ve never 'done' all inclusive and an cautious if the all inclusive excludes those particular items i might want... i realise that each island is different, so if there's any suggestions for best places please feel free to mention

2 / Are Vegetarians catered for? (not me)

3 / Looking at Komandoo..... thoughts?

4 / Weather?

Thanks in advance
Jonathan

Definitely go all-in.

There are plenty of vegetarian options.

I'd avoid going in September as it's still rainy season. We went to Meeru at the end of September, and the first few days were wet in biblical proportions.

Apart from January to April, the Maldives are always rainy but you have to be very unlucky for it to affect your holiday.

We're off a week on Tuesday, having been there in September and October the last two years.

We did Meeru in December, weather and island were both great.

Did Kuredu in November, weather was great, island was like butlins.......absolutely st.

agreed about kureedu, but its sister island is komandoo which is awesome. Go all inc, as there is only one main restaurant with a small flashier al a cartes restaurant. Don't bother with the gold upgrade

1. Probably, yes. Certainly go full board as a minimum.
2. Yes.
3. Superb.
4. Mixed I suspect at that time of year, but warm regardless.

Thanks for all the replies... i guess the last question would be, Is there any where else in the world that might/could compare (just out of interest - the idea of a relaxation holiday really is quite new to me)

Just need to ensure all options have been considered.... although we're definately swaying our own opinon in the direction of Komandoo

We went to Kuramathi with Kuoni a few years ago, and IIRC that was October. The weather and the island were perfect. I'd recommend a fully inclusive package, as we were impressed with it and it was well worth the exta for the seaplane transfer, as the boat would have taken a few hours. Food was very good and there was pleany of choice, so veggie should not be a problem. There was nothing to do apart from lie in the sun, eat and snorkel, but most islands offer scuba lessons, which were great. If you want a relaxing week I'd thoroughly recommend it, if you get bored doing nothing then its not for you.

Just checked Kuoni's website and they have an option for selecting all inclusive for Komandoo.

I would highly recommend speaking to Jim at http://www.maldivesdirect.uk.com/

He sorted our honeymoon in February and the service was fantastic.
