Honeymoon on a budget
Discussion
Can't seem to quite afford to the Maldives etc on our current honeymoon budget.
Looking to spend £3k for 2 weeks of relaxing sun- Ideally this would be around Feb/March of next year, latest we would like to go would be July.
Loking for lots of luxury, and wondered if anyone could make any reommendations outside of the normal "maldives" etc

+1Have been there and can recommend it for a chill out place to be. We also combined a week on Langkawi with a week on Penang - bloody marvellous
Trips were arranged by Trailfinders with Malaysian Air including the internal flights between the islands and KL. Should be within your budget depending on hotel choice as one or two on each island are 5* plus and could trip you over the top.
I'm off to Morocco on my honey moon in a few weeks. The reason i chose it were that its hot all year, culturally interesting (French, Portuguese, and African influence), easy to get there, amazing food, can stay in some nice Riads for next to nothing and the flight are very reasonable.
Also plenty to see and experience. I have booked a mule tour of the high atlas mountains, a few days experiencing Marrakesh in a posh riad. Then heading to the coast for some beach time followed by a trip down to Dakhla to experience being in the Sahara and do some kite surfing (my part of the trip!)

we did 14 night incl flights with Emirates, transfers and half board (plenty...) in Mauritius for about that price a couple years ago in January. Hotel was spot on, one of the best reviewed on the island (tripadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/AllReviews-g293816-Maur... ) (the Sands http://www.thesandsresort.mu/)Looking to spend £3k for 2 weeks of relaxing sun- Ideally this would be around Feb/March of next year, latest we would like to go would be July.

Right here we go
On Langkawi look at The Andaman
http://www.theandaman.com/
This hotel has a stunning Japanese restaurant within the main wing and an even better Malaysian curry restaurant in the grounds.
On Penang look at the Rasa Sayang
http://www.shangri-la.com/en/property/penang/rasas...
Here you can sometimes upgrade your room from a nice sea view room to a larger one with a plunge pool on the terrace when you arrive. It is a lot cheaper than doing it via any travel agent
Whenever we have gone we use Trailfinders to sort out everything (flights, hotels and transfers) and they usually have an offer on at one or both hotels - stay 7 nights pay for 5 was the last one from memory.

Kerala in Southern India is fantastic and now has a number of 5 star hotels:

I know I (and others) bang on about this place a lot, but we went via dream ticket, for 12 nights last august, in one of the water villas on sticks in the sea for @£2700 all inclusive. It is awesome, and voted the most romantic hotel in asia on trip advisor.
One of the few places I have been, and will definately go back
