Rosetta Stone system
Discussion
I've tried various systems. One of the best is Michel Thomas - you start thinking in German or whatever... I mean you don't construct the sentence by translating from English but form the sentence in German (rather than thinking about white supremacy/invading Poland/gassing Jews
).

Has anybody used the system to learn a language? What was your experience? How far did it take you in terms of language competence and how quickly.
They are obviously not cheap but I guess they must work to have survived and expanded as they have?
Been using it to learn French, but don't spend anywhere near enough time on it.They are obviously not cheap but I guess they must work to have survived and expanded as they have?
It's a very good system that works on the basis of repitition.

Michel great for a grounding, and for brushing up on a language you already know a bit, but just need to get the feel for again.
Although I would thoroughly recommend all of the Michel Thomas courses, I think there are probably better options out there for more advanced learning.
Plus side of Michel, is it's cheap!
