Is it an Italian friend?

If they're in to tea, I would recommend Ahmad Tea of London. It's really nice stuff, and they do some good gift box type things with arrangements.

Is said friend an ex-pat who might miss some tastes from home, or are you looking for cliche gifts for an Italian?

Really popular over here (Italy) with most ladies are the Harrods handbags. You know the PVC type ones. See the link below to see what I am on about.

Every time I go back to the UK I am asked by some lady to bring her back such a bag if I pop to London.

hope that helps !

Whisky - a nice malt is almost always well received (unless they are teetotal) and the Italians have a taste for Malts. A friend's whisky business was doing a roaring trade a couple of years ago basically selling a no-label house blend over there.
