I really don't know what to say.

We had guests arrive at our house in France last night after a long drive - they were on the phone immediately moaning that we had mis-represented the house in our advert. Their biggest complaint was regarding the kitchen.

Errr - there is no picture of the kitchen in our advert, and never has been.

The guests are leaving straight away this morning, and Mrs Puggit has agreed to refund their entire money (shame I didn't take the call yesterday!).

We've been on the phone to our keyholders, and the agreement is they booked the wrong house. We can think of no other reason why they are so unhappy. It's not a top of the range house, and it's not a top of the range price either. A handful of PHers can confirm it's not a bad place at all wink We've never had a bad review in our guest book.

We've now decided to head out at half term to make sure the house is ok - it was fine in June when we were there for 2 weeks!

It can be cathartic to share...

...sorry to hear of your problems, Puggit. Hopefully it's just a case of unrealistic expectations rather then a specific problem you'll need to deal with.

It's like TripAdvisor. You find a place with fifty four and five star ratings and there will always be one or two one star rants. The problem isn't to do with the place - it's just something went wrong, very possibly not the place's fault at all...

Win some/lose some.

I wouldn't get too upset about it, but if you're heading out there anyway, get a good camera with a wide angle lens (0.5 or fisheye or similar), which will take good interior shots. You don't need to spend a lot of money for something half decent.

Something like this;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fuji-Finepix-S5000-Telephoto...

(I used to have one of these, they're now very cheap and take great shots)

or

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FUJIFILM-S304-Digital-Camera...

With a big stack of images, there's nothing for anybody to get upset about.

I sold a vehicle recently and uploaded about 60 pictures, taken with a 15MP camera. There wasn't a single part of the description that could have been questioned!

Chalk it up to experience though, we have the odd complaint that makes you think 'what on earth?', I really don't know what some people are thinking sometimes either.

We're heading out to France this Saturday, where exactly is your place?.... We've got a couple of nights booked in Paris when we get there, then we're itinerants for further week or so. smile

We're between Tours and Le Mans, just north of the Loire valley - not far from the A26...

I think your wife was too reasonable. Your place looks lovely, especially for the very reasonable rates.

Probably just a chase of unrealistic expectations by someone who likes to moan.

They had a contract, they didn't like your place - tough. You should have charged them the 25%.
If I go to a place and it isn't quite what I expected, then if its justified, I vent my splean on Tripadvisor, otherwise I take it as an experience and forget about it.
