Feb Half term 19th 2011 Ski holiday
Discussion
Grrrrrrr we have a pad out in Bansko and I was going to book BA flights in early Aug when returns were £225 pp.
I have just realised it is the World Championships ( or something similar that week) and just quickly gone to BA to book up.... shock horror its now £729 each - and thats just flights.
We have a pad so thats gratis but then lift pass plus transfer c£100 rtn plus food & drink makes it too much money for us.
SO great minds of PH, with a Feb 2011 half term ski holiday in mind what would you suggest.
Or should we just say sod it lets go to Antigua etc?(as the above Bansko price wouldnt be too far off a 4 star all inc incl flights).

Rather left-field idea: if you dare to slum it with Ryanair, they have a new route to Plovdiv with flights on your dates at £220 (plus fees of course).
will bear it in mind but having done ryan air easy jet etc I decided four years ago never to bother with them again dire service pricy difficult flight times more than double the distance than t5 we live very close. FunkyGibbon said:
This is PH - so Road Trip is the only answer
lol it will be 1,600 miles plus each way and at that time of year lots of snow chain driving. Given I'm only going for a week how many days skiing would I really get done? It's min 24hrs non stop each way in clear conditions so let's say four days driving. Then need time to recover then that leaves three days skiing max... Instead of the six days we'd have otherwise
There should be some good last minute ski deals on the market at the moment, the poor snow conditions has made people hold off booking I think.
Snow is due this weekend and early next week, so it's a very good time to come out here right now.
Just remember, France has cheap holidays and is expensive for food and drink.
Austria is more expensive for holidays, and very cheap for food and drink.
Switzerland is just expensive (but very pretty).
Italy is a bit of all the above, depending where you go.
Conditions here in Kitz today have been superb. Temperatures dropped, so much less slush in the afternoon, pistes at the top are still in good overall condition.
